Reasons why my life sucks right now
The end of high school. You’d think that’s good, right? Remember that episode of Buffy where the demon snake eats everyone at her graduation? That would be an improvement over mine.
Dorm life. Thumbs way up on moving away from home, but down, down, down on the Geek Dorm where I’ll spend the next four years. It’s going to take forever to hipify all those science and techno geeks.
Dru’s wedding. She may be one of my best friends, but if she thinks I’m going to wear a pink and yellow plaid bridesmaid’s dress, she’s completely wacked out of her gourd.
Romantic graduation present cruise…without the nummiest boyfriend on the face of the earth? One word Waaaaaaaaah!

Life Love and the Pursuit of Hotties Emily Books Book 5 eBook Katie Maxwell
I was a preteen when I first read these books, and back then I thought the Emily series was "über-fabu!". I am now in my mid-twenties, and decided to re-read the books. I am sad to say that this time around, I was not nearly as impressed. Although the first few books have their charms, this final installment was a major disappointment.First of all, Emily is the coolest when you're 12 years old. At 26, she's conceited, moronic, materialistic, and the type of girl I'd avoid at all costs. The thing that pisses me off the most is the fact that we spent five whole books listening to Emily obsess over sex, and then in the end she doesn't even have it!
Holly is the only redeeming character in this series. She's the only female in the books who even vaguely resembles a normal, every day girl. It deeply saddens me that Katie Maxwell basically mutilates her character in the end. Poor sweet Holly goes from shy, to outgoing, to an attention seeking, manic depressive shell of her former self.
There are really no other worthwhile female characters in the series. Bess is kind of a flaky feminist, and honestly brings nothing of quality to the table. Dru is just downright AWFUL. Why anyone would want to be friends with this girl is beyond me! I felt like even Emily was sick of her stupidity by the last installment. I preferred her much more in the first few books. At least then the air head was kept at bay behind minimal emails.
The thing that really sent me over the edge was the downright horrible way Katie Maxwell chose to end the series. We were left with nothing more than an email from Emily telling Holly she should seek help and take anti-depressants!? What a crock. What happens to Holly? I was left with the dreadful feeling that she'd do something crazy, or self harming. What happens to Fang and Emily? Do they ever freakin have sex? Does Dru ever marry Felix? And what the hell is really going on in Emily's underwear drawer!? These are the questions that should have been answered instead of making Holly certifiable.

Life Love and the Pursuit of Hotties Emily Books Book 5 eBook Katie Maxwell Reviews
This is another book by Katie Maxwell and is just as good and just as much fun to read as all the others. I will order more of her books I'm sure.
This book series is great and a super fun read.
I enjoyed all the books for the Emily character. I kept chuckling out loud while reading the book. Got a few strange looks for other riders on Bart.
These books are great. I love her writing style and love the characters she creates. But she needs a better editor because there are alot of typos and grammar issues. I wish I could get that job! Smoochies!
It pains me to say anything bad about the "Emily" series, because I loved the first three books soooo much. But I just didn't like this one as much. The fourth book wasn't quite as good as I had hoped, either. Emily is eighteen now, and I had hoped she would start acting a bit more mature, but she doesn't seem to have changed much. She still talks way too much and has terrible impulse control. The crazy things she did in "Loo" when she was sixteen were funny then, but I'm growing weary of it. Sometimes I wonder what a perfect guy like Fang would see in her. But I guess her babbling and outrageous antics are also part of her charm.
I would have liked this book to have more of a story to it, maybe a big adventure or some crisis between Em and Fang (not just the "crisis" that she can't kiss him on the mouth because he's sick). I guess I wanted Em and Fang to spend more time together now that they're on the same continent and maybe move to the next level with their relationship. I know it's a teen book, but there was more "action" in the earlier books when she was fending off Aidan or planning to sleep with Devon (who, by the way, this book needed much more of).
As I said, I don't like saying bad things about Katie's books. I would rather have a sub-par book about Emily than no more books about Emily, as the author originally intended. And I am an adult reader, and maybe teens will like this better than I did. But I was also adult when I read the first three books. I still like to re-read them occasionally because they were that good.
Just some minor stuff I don't like the new cover look for the book. It doesn't really match the book. Either did the title, for that matter.
After finishing this book, I just want more! So many questions! If you haven't read any of these amazing books, what are you waiting for??? Stop reading glasses reviews and go buy all of Emily's books!!! You'll laugh until you cry, I promise!
As an adult reader, I enjoy reading Katie Macalister's adult novels. I found out through our local library she wrote young adult novels under the pen name Katie Maxwell. I decided to buy all the books I could and sent them on to the teenage nieces in our family to read. This was one of the novels I sent and yes, I read it before sending. It was a great read for ages 15-17, I don't recommend sending for younger than 15 there are some drinking and references to sexual encounters in some of her novels. But hey, to each their own.
